Ipe Veneer
Common Names – Brazilian Teak, Lapacho, Guayacan,
Botannical Name – Handroanthus spp.
Source: Latin America, except Chile
Color: Heartwood is light to dark olive brown. Sapwood is yellowish gray to gray-brown.
Pattern: Closely interlocked grain; fine to medium textured.
Characteristics: Very heavy and hard, moderately difficult to machine; generally sinks in water; highly resistant to decay and insects, except marine borers.
Uses: Heavy construction, heavy duty flooring, decking, crossties, turnery, decorative veneers and plywood
