TULIPWOOD VENEER, BRAZILIAN (Dalbergia frutescens var. tomentosa)

Other Names: Tulip Wood, Boise De Rose, Brazilian Pinkwood, Pau Rosa. Source: Northwestern Brazil. Color: Light background regularly streaked with red and yellow. Pattern: Annual growth marked by dark rings. Rays are irregular, fine. Characteristics: In line of the concentric layers, poors are fairly large and open with numerous, very small pores in the remainder of the layer. Uses: Inlay, turnery, bandings. Availability: Rare as veneer (plain sliced; rare as lumber).
