CURLY MAPLE VENEER (Acer saccharum) Other names: Fiddleback Maple, Northern Maple, Rock Maple, Sugar Maple, Black Maple. Source: Lake States, Appalachians, Northwest US , Canada .. Color: Cream to light reddish-brown heartwood; thin white sapwood tinged slightly with reddish-brown. Pattern: Can be highly figured with curly or scattered over entire sheet in irregular stripes and patches. Characteristics: Heavy, hard, strong and tough. Close-grained. Uses: Furniture, interiors, fixtures, flooring woodenware, cutting surfaces, School furniture.
