POPLAR VENEER

 (Liriodendron tulipifera). 

Common Names:  Yellow poplar, American Whitewood, Tulip poplar, American tulipwood.

Source:  Eastern United States.

Color:  White to yellowish cast, sometimes with slightly greenish cast, and occasionally with rather dark streaks

Pattern:  Straight Grain.

Characteristics:  Even texture, light to medium weight, excellent strength, machines easily, excellent gluing and resistance to splitting when nailed.

Uses:  As veneer for faces, cross-banding, and backs of plywood.  As lumber for furniture component parts, turnery, interior trim and millwork, cabinetry, and exterior trim and siding.

Thicknesses: Standard thicknesses are 1/16, 1/20, and 1/24 inch.  1/8 and 1/12″ also available, or inquire for more options.

Lengths:  15 to 108″

Widths:  12 to 100″

Grades:  Core and Better or Sound Better

Quantities:  Minimimum is approximately 1,000 square feet per size, grade, and thickness.
